What Is Earthing?
The Earth beneath your feet provides you with food and water. It gives you a surface to sit, stand, walk, run, swim, climb, play, and build on. It also provides you with something very surprising - electrons. When you touch the ground with your bare feet or body, the electrons flow into you. This is called being “grounded.”
The earth’s surface has a virtually limitless supply of mobile electrons that gives the ground (as well as lakes and oceans) a natural negative electric charge. When you touch your body to the ground, it dissipates static electricity and extraneous environmental electrical charges that are on you. At the same time, you receive a charge of energy in the form of free electrons and your body synchronizes with the natural frequencies of the earth.
As long as you are grounded, your body continues to absorb enough electrons to maintain the same electrical potential as the earth. This amount of electrons varies significantly between people depending upon their lifestyle and activity, and it is impossible to measure.
The Earth Is Like A Gigantic Battery
Our planet is like a battery endowed with natural subtle electric energy and shifting frequencies. Some people feel this energy as pleasant tingling or warmth in their feet when walking along the beach
or on wet grass.
The surface of the planet, both on the land and in bodies of water, is teeming with this energy. At Earthing, we like to call this natural electricity “Vitamin G” for "Vitamin Ground."
The Earth is constantly recharged by the sun. In upper regions of the atmosphere (about 60 miles/100 kilometers) called the ionosphere, the sun’s rays split air molecules into positively and negatively charged ions.
Electrons are subatomic particles that give negative ions their negative charge. The electrons are transferred down to the Earth via lightning and rain, a highly complex phenomenon that creates the planet’s negative surface charge.
Living things in nature have a constant connection with the Earth and absorb its electrons which help keep the biological machinery of life running in rhythm and balance. When we touch the Earth, we absorb these electrons too.
Modern Life Has Disconnected Us From The Earth
For most of human history, people lived in direct connection with the Earth. They walked barefoot or wore natural footwear that allowed the Earth’s stabilizing energy to flow through freely through their bodies. Our ancestors, stayed naturally grounded, benefiting their overall well-being.
Today, our modern lifestyle has created a significant disconnection from the Earth. We rarely walk barefoot, instead wearing shoes with synthetic soles that block the Earth’s energy. We live and work in buildings elevated off the ground, with synthetic flooring that prevents the natural flow of electrons from reaching us.
This disconnection leaves our bodies deprived of the Earth’s negative charges, which are essential for balance, and keeps our bodies burdened with an excess of positive charges, contributing to oxidative stress and other imbalances.
You're An Electrical Being
Your body operates electrically—your heart, brain, nervous system, and immune system depend on bioelectric signals to function properly. Much like electrical systems in homes require grounding to stabilize, your body does too. Your lost electric connection to the Earth is an often overlooked element of well-being.
Grounding is the practice of restoring our vital connection to the Earth.
By reconnecting with the Earth, either by walking barefoot outside or by using Earthing products inside, you can help restore balance to your body.
PUT YOUR BARE FEET ON THE EARTH'S NATURAL SURFACES!
Our ancestors were grounded 24/7, so the more you get grounded the better. 30 minutes is the minimum amount of time recommended to be grounded each day.
- GRASS, SAND, DIRT & SOIL
- PLANTS & LIVING TREES (especially with wet bark)
- GRAVEL & ROCK (that is touching the earth)
- UNSEALED CONCRETE (or coated with a water-based sealant)
- UNSEALED BRICK (or coated with a water-based sealant)
- BODIES OF WATER (like oceans, lakes, and streams)
If You Can't Get Grounded Outside....Start Earthing Inside!
Depending on where you live and what season it is, it’s not always possible to be outdoors barefoot every day. Plus, with work, family, and other responsibilities, it can be difficult to find time each day to connect with the Earth. The solution? Use Earthing® products when you’re indoors!
