The four-point check
Almost everything that looks like a product not working is one of these four. Work down the list. It takes about a minute.
1. The outlet
Push the outlet checker into the socket you are using. Two amber lights, and no red light, means that outlet is wired correctly.
Any other pattern of lights, stop. Do not use that outlet, and do not try to interpret the pattern, because some fault patterns look fine and are not.
Try other rooms first. Older houses are inconsistent and one bad outlet does not mean a bad house.
If no lights come on at all, check the socket has power before you assume anything is wrong with the outlet. A tripped breaker or a switched socket will give you a dead checker and it looks exactly like a fault.
If nothing in the house tests right, that is not a fault in your product. It means your wiring is not carrying ground, which is ordinary in older homes and in two-prong wiring. There are two fixes.
The Ground Rod, $29.99. It is sold separately and it is not in any kit, so this does mean buying one more thing, which is a irritating answer when your product is not working. It is also the answer that always works: it goes into the soil outside your window and skips your house wiring completely.
Or have an electrician ground the outlet. Costs more, but it fixes the room rather than the one socket, and it is worth doing anyway if your wiring is old.
Repeat this check if anything electrical changes in the house, particularly after wiring work.
2. The cord and the adapter
The safety adapter is not optional. The small white piece goes into the tested outlet, and the cord goes into the adapter. That is what holds a secure grounded connection.
Then check both ends of the cord. Into the adapter, firmly. And snapped onto the metal tab on your mat or cover, which should click.
A three-prong surge protector or extension cord is fine, as long as you tested that one with the checker too.
A cord that worked loose behind a bed is the easiest fault to miss. Vacuuming, bed-making, someone tidying. Nothing tells you it happened.
Using a ground rod instead of an outlet? Rod into moist soil outside the window or door. It does not need to be flush with the ground and it conducts perfectly well sitting slightly proud. Cord in through the opening, then close the window or door on it. For one product, the coil cord pushes straight into the rod cord. For two, the safety adapter goes into the rod cord first.
3. What is touching it
Something of you has to be touching the conductive surface.
Fine: bare skin, a cotton, bamboo or poly-cotton sheet, minimal nightwear. On a Universal Mat, socks are fine, and thin natural fibers work fastest.
Not fine: a fully synthetic sheet. We do not recommend those over an Earthing product at all.
Distance blocks it more reliably than fabric does. A foam topper, a duvet or a folded blanket between you and the mat means you are not really touching it. If you sleep in long pajamas, put the mat on top of the fitted sheet rather than under it.
And no lotion, cream or body oil on your skin before contact. They oxidize and damage conductivity over time.
Cleaning, all of it. A damp cloth, routinely. For an occasional deeper clean, use a little mild household soap on the cloth, then go over it again with a clean damp cloth to take the soap off, because buildup blocks conductivity. Air dry.
Never bleach, disinfectant, oils or whitening agents. Never the washing machine or the dryer.
4. The Product Tester, if you have one
The tester needs its own hookup. Setting it on the mat does nothing on its own, and that catches a lot of people out.
Outlet checked. Safety adapter into the outlet. Coil Cord #1 from the adapter to the tester. Coil Cord #2 from the adapter to your product. Then place the tester on the conductive surface and press and hold the button.
If it will not light:
- Press the button away from the product first. A quick green flash means the battery is alive. No flash means replace it, it is a CR2032.
- The metal disc underneath has to be in full contact. Press firmly, and put a book or your hand under the mat so it has something to press against.
- Check both coil cords are snapped tight and pushed all the way into the adapter.
- Testing through a sheet? Put a drop of water on the sheet first and test on the damp spot.
- Move the tester to a different spot on the product. If it lights in one place and not another, that is wear, and that is a warranty conversation rather than a setup one.
- If you have a spare coil cord, swap it in and test again. Cords fail more often than mats do.
All four check outOr one was wrong and I have fixed it I went through all four and I am still stuckThen it is not a setup problem and we should look at it properly Back to the start
Then it is set up correctly
Worth saying plainly: there is nothing else to do to it.
No settings, no dose, no schedule. It is connected to the ground and it will stay connected until something physically moves.
The only variable left is consistency, and that one is yours.
But I still do not feel anythingThat is the more common question, and it has a real answer Back to the start
What this actually feels like
Here is the honest version, and it is the one nobody tells you at the point of sale.
The range is wide. Some people notice something almost immediately. For others it takes days or weeks of regular use before anything shows up. Both are completely normal.
Some people feel a faint tingling or warmth, usually starting in the feet and moving up over about twenty to thirty minutes. Plenty of people feel nothing at all at the time.
Feeling nothing is not a signal that it is not working. If you spend a month waiting to feel it switch on, you will spend a month disappointed by something that is behaving exactly as designed.
So measure it instead of feeling for it
Do not judge it on night one. Give it three weeks, then ask how you feel in the middle of the morning.
Write down where you are starting. How long it takes you to drop off. How many times you wake. How you feel getting out of a chair.
Nobody remembers last month accurately, which is the entire reason to put it on paper.
And the part we will not overstate
Earthing products connect the body to the earth's energy. We guarantee that connection. There is no guarantee as to how an individual may respond to grounding once that connection is made.
Earthing products are not a substitute for medical treatment. Individual results of grounding will vary.
Something has changed for the betterGood. There is one thing you can do that helps other people a lot It has been weeks and nothing at allThen let us sort out where that leaves you Back to the start
Good
That is the part we do not get to see from here, so thank you for telling us.
If you have two minutes, the most useful thing you can do is write down what changed, in your own words, on the page for the product you own.
Not a rating. The specific thing. People deciding whether any of this is real read those far more carefully than they read anything we write.

Back to the startThen let us look at it properly
You have done the check, so this is not a setup question any more. Two things it could be.
If the tester will not light on a fresh battery and a second cord
That is very likely a fault in the product or the cord, not in your setup. Non-clearance products carry a one year warranty for manufacturer defects, and a defective product gets replaced rather than refunded.
Email help@earthing.com with your order number and what the tester did.
If everything checks out and it is simply not doing anything for you
That happens, and we would rather say so than argue with you about it. We guarantee the connection. We do not guarantee how any individual responds to it.
You have 45 days from your order date. Email help@earthing.com with your order number and we will issue an RMA number with return instructions.
Returns need that number and it goes on the outside of the box. The item needs to be back with us within 30 days of the RMA being issued. Original shipping is not refundable and you cover the return shipping, so add tracking and keep the number. Clearance items are final sale.
Before you write, copy this in

Why Should You Wear Grounded Shoes?
Earthing shoes ground you to the earth. They remove electrical tension and stress, which cause inflammation and other health-related disorders.
Before plastic soled shoes were invented (circa 1960), everyone wore leather shoes that conducted the earth's energy into their feet.
Without grounding, we've become chronically charged…and it’s making us sick.
So stay grounded on the go with Earthing Sedona shoes!
